2025 Summer School on Arms Control and Disarmament: August 25-29

About the Summer School:

This program aims to revitalize disarmament education, equipping the next generation of experts in disarmament, non-proliferation, and arms control. Through a 5-day in-person program of lectures, seminars, and workshops, participants will gain knowledge, skills, and inspiration to become leaders in addressing these critical global issues.

Program Highlights: The course offers a dynamic mix of:

- Exclusive visits to organizations at the forefront of disarmament and arms control

The Summer School program aims to foster a global network of skilled peace builders and researchers, united in their quest for a safer, more peaceful, and sustainable world, and equipped to drive positive change.

Logistics, Funding and dates

Join us in Sweden from August 25-29, 2025, at SIPRI and Uppsala University's AMC. All program costs, including:

- Travel to Stockholm (flights/trains)

- Visa fees

- Travel insurance

- Local transportation

- Food and accommodation

will be fully covered. Participants will only be responsible for personal expenses beyond the program.

Eligibility 

We're seeking 25 driven individuals with a relevant background in:

- Research

- Policy

- Practice

from governments, NGOs, think tanks, or universities. To apply, also

- Hold a bachelor's degree by the course start date

- Be currently enrolled or a recent graduate

- Not have participated in the Summer School previously.

We prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion, seeking a participant mix that reflects:

- Balanced gender representation

- Global geographic diversity

- Interdisciplinary academic backgrounds

Applications from women, underrepresented groups, and developing country candidates are strongly encouraged.

The program will be delivered exclusively in English, with no interpretation or translation services available. Therefore, applicants must possess advanced English language skills.

2. Write a 1-page motivation letter explaining why you're interested and why you're a strong candidate
